It introduces the main characters, the concept of middle schoolers fighting in secret in a virtual world against an evil artificial intelligence, and the phrase "can you keep a secret?", which is reused both in the Code Lyoko series and as the series' advertising slogan. In Garage Kids, the virtual world was much more complex in its design, unusable for a series. Aelita did not exist. Odd is presented as having joined the group of heroes when they were already fighting against the AI, while the prequel to Code Lyoko shows that the group was formed when the virtual world was discovered. Yumi could use her telekinesis on Earth. The presentation at the Code Lyoko show claimed that "Yumi is telepathic8" (sic) and that Ulrich can move at the speed of light.
